Pathological Archive (PALGA)

Pathological Archive (PALGA)

PALGA Foundation Pathological-Anatomical National Automated Archive "The nationwide network and registry of histo- and cytopathology in the Netherlands" The PALGA Foundation was established in 1971. The goal of PALGA is to promote communication and information provision within and between pathology laboratories and to make the acquired knowledge available to healthcare. All pathology laboratories in the Netherlands participate in the PALGA network. PALGA contains all results of pathology tests: malignancies, benign conditions, but also the results of tests in which no abnormalities have been found. Thanks to the PALGA network, optimal use is possible of data that is recorded once in the laboratory. The data in the central system forms the basis for the national cancer registry, is indispensable for the evaluation and monitoring of population screening, supports patient care and can be used for scientific research. PALGA enables fast, effective and cheap use of pathology data from all Dutch pathology laboratories.
