AuditConnect is happy to help you! What is a Pentest? A Penetration Test or Pentest is a check of one or more computer systems for vulnerabilities. The Pentest examines whether it is possible to actually use these vulnerabilities to bypass, break in or breach the security on these systems. This is done to gain insight into the effectiveness of the (security) system and to define areas for improvement. A Penetration Test takes place for legitimate reasons, with the consent of the owners of the systems being monitored, with the aim of making the systems more secure. One way in which this can be done is, for example, by having a team of security specialists (ethical hackers) attempt to access information from the (secure) system without the required access data with the consent of the system owner. Why run a Pentest? The purpose of a Pentest is to gain insight into the risks and vulnerabilities of the investigated system and to define improvements for the security - in other words, to combat the risks and vulnerabilities. In recent years, companies have increasingly felt the need to subject their IT systems to a so-called Penetration Test (hereinafter referred to as the 'Pentest'). Conducting a Pentest can be a valuable addition to assessing the degree of security of information systems.
